We stayed at the Luna Blue Hotel, a small boutique hotel that’s less than half a block of Avenita 5 (the main drag in Playa) and 2 blocks from the beach. Fantastic location and much cheaper than the all-inclusives. We felt we experienced the area more than we would have at a resort. We like exploring and wandering around while on vacation, so the all-inclusive was just more our speed. We LOVED this hotel and plan on staying there again when we go back.
If you’re in area, we’d highly recommend the following:
- Luna Blue Hotel (see video from day 1)
- Taking a day trip to Tulum (just grab a cab to & from) (see day 4 video)
- After Tulum, grabbing some fish tacos at Zama’s (see day 4 video)
- Visiting Chichen Itza (see day 7 video) (book a bus tour when you get there, see hotel front desk for more info)
- Taking a cooking class with Josephina on Cozumel (video: day 6)
- Instrumentales Musicales – a musical instrument store on Cozumel
- La Cueva del Chango - fantastic breakfast & lunches (day 5 & day 8)
- El Sabrosito del Fagon – our favorite spot for dinner (across the street from the Mega, see front desk for directions) (day 1 & day 5)
- Swimming in a cenote - see front desk for suggestions (day 7)
We vlogged the whole trip and posted all the videos are on youtube. There’s quite a lot but the playlists are divided by day.
- Day 1: Thursday, January 3rd
- Day 2: Friday, January 4th
